Loathe Actually: The Dungeons launch 'mean message delivery service' this Christmas

  • Monday December 11th 2023

Untitled Design (18)

‘Tis the season to be jolly, but not for everyone! This Christmas, why not give the gift of ill will as The Dungeons launches a first of its kind ‘Loathe Actually’ message service.

The new service turns the famous note card scene in one of the UK’s favourite Christmas films Love Actually on its head.

Those who visit London, York, Edinburgh or Warwick Castle Dungeons* between 11 and 17 December will be in with a chance to win their very own mean-spirited message delivered to a person of their choice over the holidays.

Better than yet another meaningless gift, this verbal lump of coal will deliver just the truth telling that Christmas needs – whether you think your mother-in-law needs to know how you really feel about her cooking or if your horrid boss should hear just how bad their jokes really are.

The winner will be able to choose their very own message, or choose from some the Dungeons have prepared as suggestions, including ‘To me you are imperfect’ and ‘To me you are ****’ (insert word of choice here!). Their message will then be delivered in a Love Actually style video, to the person of their choosing to ensure their Christmas cheer is disrupted this year.

A spokesperson for The Dungeons said: “There's plenty of people spreading Christmas cheer this time of year – but frankly not everyone deserves it. So because it’s Christmas, and at this time of year you tell the truth, or so the movie says, we’ve created the perfect service for those who have a few things they’d like to get off their chests before spending time together over the holidays. Visit, submit your message and sit back – we'll let our colourful characters of history bear the brunt for you!”

To be in with the chance of winning the ‘Loathe Actually’ delivery service, submit your message of choice upon entry to the attraction. Submissions are open from 11 to 17 December; T&Cs apply**.

For those who prefer frights to festivities this season, book ahead to avoid dastardly disappointment!
